Chinese New Year Celebrations!!!

Nursery had lots of fun celebrating Chinese New Year!

We listened to the story about how the animals had a race and how the years were named after each animal. The children were able to re-tell parts of the story too! We also learnt about the Chinese culture, which helped build on our Knowledge and Understanding Skills.

There were lots of activities to choose from and we had so much fun when our parents came to help us celebrate too.

We made animal masks. We had to cut around the mask very carefully and decorate it, this helped build our fine motor skills.

Can you guess our favourite animal?

We made Chinese lanterns.

As this year is the year of the dog, our cards had a lovely picture of a dog on the front. We coloured it in beautifully and then decorated it using a variety of collage materials and glitter which helped us build on our art and design skills.

We also made money envelopes because they are a sign of good fortune and wealth.

Our parents really enjoyed taking part and gave really positive comments about the activity day 👍👍👍

Miss Clarkson even taught the children a dragon dance!!!

Fish in Nursery

Hi everyone, just to update you all about our fish.....

We were so excited when we found a bag in the Nursery. What on earth could be in the bag??

Yes, you're absolutely right, the fish have finally arrived!!! 🐠🐟

The children were so excited to see two fish swimming around in a bag full of water!

They were really happy and excited (as you can see 👀).

The cars and boats used lots of adjectives to describe the fish.

"They're so adorable" said Aisha.

"They are so cute" replied Aiza-Maryam.

Aisha Khan said 'It's mummy and daddy fish".

"There are two fish in the bag" said Zayaan.

Zafarine was really excited. "They're so beautiful and cute" she said.

We all took turns to hold the fish. Adil was quite mesmerised and sat on the carpet for a very long time.

It was time to give the fish a new home because they needed more space to swim around in.

Miss Clarkson carefully placed the fish into the water and let the fish get used to their new home. We then watched as Miss Clarkson carefully opened the bag.

The fish settled into their home really smoothly!!! They swam around and explored their new
surroundings.

We had a discussion about what we needed to feed the fish. After some great suggestions, we decided that fish food was a good idea (not carrots and bananas!!!).

The children really enjoyed talking about how we care for living things.

At the end of the day, some of the children even showed our new arrivals off to their parents. 👍👍👍

Now all we have to do is decide on names.....

Now all we have to do is decide on names.....

Keep following our Nursery blogs to find out what we decide to name the fish.......

Fish Tank in Nursery

Can you believe that we are going to have our very own fish in the Nursery?

The Children couldn't believe their eyes when they went in the yellow room! They found a fabulous fish tank!

They were absolutely shocked and amazed!!!

All the children helped to put the fish tank together.

 We put some water in.

We put some pebbles and sea weed into the tank.

 We put the lid on!!!

But the biggest question is "WHERE ARE THE FISH?"
